Motorcycling in Stuben am Arlberg

Freedom on two wheels in the middle of the mountains

Panoramic view and curves on the Arlberg

Discover summer with your own horsepower under the saddle

Stuben is not only the starting point for numerous hikes in the Arlberg region and around the Albona, but also the ideal starting place for two-wheel freaks who want to break out in different valleys or on daily tours around Ländle, to Tyrol, to South Tyrol or into Switzerland. Situated on the ridge between Tyrol and Vorarlberg, with breathtaking pass roads and situated directly under the Arlberg Pass, Stuben offers itself up as a starting point for motorbike tours.

Suggested routes

Route 1: Leads over the Arlberg pass into Tyrol, then further on the Arlberg-Panorama road towards Landeck. From there you can reach Italy over the Reschen Pass; you can drive one of the highest Alpine passes, the Stilfserjoch, and a generously calculated daily tour over the national park Val Müstair and the Ofen Pass into Engadine, in Switzerland, and over Landeck and the Arlberg on the return journey...If you still want to take in a beautfiful pass on the way and still have enough meat on your rear, take the Zernez junction towards St. Moritz; at the Silvana junction, take the route over the Julier Pass and Lenzerheide to Chur. From there, it’s just a quick hop, skip and jump over the freeway to Feldkirch and via Bludenz back to Stuben.

Route 2: Leads out of the valley towards Bludenz; there you can take a short trip with the gondola up to the Muttersberg, or straight into the next valley, change to Montafon, from where the spectacular Silvretta High-Alpine Road (toll duty payable) leads on the Bielerhöhe and further through Paznauntal via Galtür to Landeck. From there, you can make another small detour in the direction of the Reschen Pass or tackle Engadin, or take the shorter route back over the Arlberg and the Arlberg scenic road to St. Christoph and back to Stuben.

Route 3: Your starting point is again Stuben; take the route in the direction of Arlberg. Instead of heading towards Tyrol, turn left towards Zürs/Lech and drive the structurally interesting stretch over Flexenstrasse through the more than a hundred-year-old galleries to Zürs, and further to Lech and Warth. From there you can take the road via Schröcken and the Bregenz forest to Bregenz. Another option is to drive past Damüls over the Faschina pass and Fontanella into Walgau and to Bludenz. From there you can find your way back into Klostertal to Stuben.

Route 4: Another worthwhile and surprisingly close detour is to drive to neighboring Switzerland. To get there, you drive through Klostertal ideally over the highway and further to Bludenz on the freeway towards Feldkirch. From there you can reach Wildhaus via Buchs and Grabs; turn right at Alt.-St. Johann and you will arrive at Schwägalp. The guesthouse in the vicinity of the Säntis gondola, which leads up to one of the highest viewing points in the region, is a popular motorbike meeting point. The Säntis is worth a ride when the weather is good. Then continue on to Urnäsch up to Appenzell, whose idyllic center is worth a detour. You will arrive down in the Rheintal in Altstätten via Stoss and from there to Oberriet, change to the Austrian side over the Rhein and ride towards Meiningen, and then further over the freeway to Bludenz. From there it is not far to the departure point in Stuben.
