Enjoy the panorama on two or four wheels

Silvretta High Alpine Road

When the journey is the most beautiful destination: the Silvretta High Alpine Road meanders in 30 hairpin bends like a picturesque ribbon of asphalt through the fascinating mountain scenery of the Silvretta and Verwall groups with their three-thousand-metre peaks. At the top of the pass, the Bielerhöhe at 2070 meters, the rocky peak of the Piz Buin can be seen behind the turquoise-blue surface of the Silvretta reservoir. The mountain landscape is breathtaking, the 80-metre-high dam wall imposing. It's no wonder that the annual Silvretta Classic Rally owes its success to this fantastic route.

Fantastic day trip to Füssen

Opulent royal castles

For a day trip into the romantic dream worlds of medieval legends and heroic tales, drive via Warth through the Tyrolean Lech Valley to Füssen to the legendary royal castles of Ludwig II. Neuschwanstein is modeled on the medieval Wartburg and houses the stories from Richard Wagner's operas, which have been turned into pictures inside. The interior of Hohenschwangau Castle is full of murals with themes from the world of medieval legends. The motif of the swan is omnipresent.

The largest lake stage in the world

Play on the lake

It's not just opera lovers who are captivated by the world's largest lake stage. Lake Constance forms the stunning backdrop for opera productions that change every two years and are accompanied by the in-house orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. When arias resound across the Swabian Sea at sunset, thousands of guests are impressed. In bad weather, the festival hall is used for orchestral concerts, theater productions, performances by young artists and much more.

Where the giant greets and crystals keep watch

Swarovski Crystal Worlds

The Swarovski Crystal Worlds is a visitor center designed by André Heller on behalf of the crystal glass manufacturer Swarovski, consisting of a park, art museum and factory outlet. The area was recently expanded and visitors are enchanted by a spacious crystalline park landscape, an expanded family and children's offer, new culinary experiences and new Chambers of Wonder of the Giant.

Whisky, perfume and watches beckon

Duty-free shopping in Samnaun

From Stuben, it takes 80 minutes by car to reach the duty-free area of Samnaun - the only duty-free area in Switzerland and probably the highest shopping street in Europe. Centuries ago, the only connection to the outside world from the narrow Samnaun Valley was provided by the passes to the Engadin and Paznaun and an oxcart route via Spiss to Pfunds. In the 17th and 18th centuries, this oxcart route led to lively trade with neighboring Tyrol.

Today, there are over 50 stores selling branded products that can be purchased VAT-free. Branded perfumes, cosmetics, distillery products, watches, jewelry, sports fashion and much more are on offer. Free parking in the public parking lots and especially the low fuel prices are also attractive. Samnaun also operates a ski area that is linked across the mountain ridge and the border with the municipality of Ischgl in Tyrol.
