Excursion vacations in Stuben

Stuben is an ideal starting point for culture, nature and movement

Fairytale castles, giants and operas

Unique experiences to explore from Stuben

Royal castles, crystal worlds, high-alpine scenic roads or magical operas on the Lake of Constance. If you vacation in Stuben am Arlberg, you will have many wonderful destinations at your feet or at the very least challenging short tours, expeditions and walks of different levels.

Stuben am Arlberg is the starting point for unforgettable vacation experiences. As an alternative program to the wonderful Alpine flora and fauna of Stuben am Arlberg, the royal palaces or Crystal Worlds in Watten invite you to visit. The Bregenz Festival on Lake Constance, the Silvretta High Alpine Road or the duty-free area Samnaun are worth a visit during your stay in Stuben am Arlberg.

Silvretta Hochalpenstrasse

Silvretta High Alpine Road

Enjoy the panorama on two or four wheels

If the route is a reward in itself: The Silvretta High Alpine road snakes like a picturesque band of asphalt in 30 turns through the fascinating Alpine backdrop of the Silvretta and Verwall Group with their three-thousand-meter-high peaks. On the Passhöhe and the Bielerhöhe pass situated at 2070 meters, you can see the cliffs of the Piz Buin behind the turquoise blue area of the Silvretta dam. The Alpine landscape is breakthtaking, the 80 m high dam walls imposing. It is no wonder that the annual Rallye Silvretta Classic also thanks its success to this glorious route.

Opulent royal palaces

Fantastic day trips to Füssen

For a day trip into romantic dream worlds made up of medieval legends and heroic stories, you drive to Warth through the Tiroler Lechtal to Füssen to the legendary royal palaces of Ludwig II. Neuschwanstein is modelled on the medieval Wartburg and houses the stories from Richard Wagner’s operas in pictorial form in its interior. The inner rooms of Castle Hohenschwangau are full of murals with topics from the medieval legends. The motive of the swan is omnipresent.

Opera on the lake

The largest lakeside stage in the world

The largest lakeside stage in the world not only grabs the attention of opera lovers. Lake Constance forms a stunning backdrop to the biennial opera productions accompanied by the local orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. If arias resound over the Swabian sea at sundown, thousands of guests will be impressed. During bad weather, the concert is played in the festival theatre, which houses orchestra concerts, theater productions and performances from the young scene and much more.

Swarovski Crystal World

Where the giant greets you and crystals watch over you

Swarovski Crystal World is a visitor center conceived by André Keller on behalf of the crystal glass manufacturer Swarovski consisting of a park, an art museum and a factory outlet. The area has just been extended and a generous crystal park landscape, an extended offer for families and children, new culinary experiences and new Chambers of Wonder of the giant cast a spell over visitors.

Duty-free shopping in Samnaun

Whisky, perfume and watches will tempt you

From Stuben, you can reach the duty-free area Samnaun by private car in 80 minutes – the only duty-free area in Switzerland and probably the highest shopping street in Europe. The passes to Engadin and Paznaun as well as an ox cart trail over Spiss to Pfunds were the only connection to the outside world from the narrow Samnaun valley. A flourishing trade developed with neighboring Tyrol over the ox cart trail in the 17th and 18th century.

These days there are branded products in over 50 shops which can be purchased VAT-free. Branded perfumes, cosmetics, distilled products, watches, jewelry, sports clothing and much more is on offer. The free-of-charge parking on the public parking lots and the well-priced petrol in particular are also attractive. Furthermore, Samnaun operates a combined ski area with the Ischgl municipality in the federal state of Tyrol over the Berggrat and the border.
