Motorcycling around Stuben

Freedom on 2 wheels in the middle of the mountains

Silvretta Hochalpenstraße

Kilometers: 164 | Difficulty: easy to medium | Kurviger Tour-code: 20stuben05

The drive along the Arlberg Pass starts off this day trip that features the highlight of the Silvretta Reservoir, which lies at an altitude of 2,000 meters. But wherever you prefer to ride your motorcycle, the journey is the destination – and it should have plenty of curves.

This route offers just that as you cross the top of the pass on Arlberg and continue down the panoramic street of our local mountain. Here's an insider's tip: take the route via Tobadill to the Paznauntal, which starts in a well-hidden spot in Landeck. Once you have arrived in the popular valley, you will drive through the ski resorts of See, Kappl, Ischgl, and Galtür before you find the ultimate biker's dream – the 20-kilometer-long Silvretta Hochalpenstraße.

Motorcyclists love this alpine road, which boasts one curve after the other and is a real delight every time. The 34 hairpin curves offer pure bliss for every biker, and the view of the 3,312-meter-high Piz Buin, Vorarlberg's tallest mountain, isn't the only highlight. You will reach the highest point of this adventurous road at 2,032 meters on the Bielerhöhe Pass. Here, one of the most impressive bodies of water in Tyrol awaits in the form of the Silvretta Reservoir. And, as is the case near many passes and reservoirs, this is a great place to stop for a chat with other bikers.

After climbing to these dizzying heights, a grounding walk through the inviting town of Bludenz might be just what you need before winding your way back through Klostertal towards Stuben.
