24th Hannes Schneider Memorial Race

February 22, 2019 in Stuben am Arlberg

In Memoriam Hannes Schneider

Pioneer of Skiing

The legendary ski pioneer Hannes Schneider (1890-1955) was born in Stuben. At the age of 17 he was the first ski instructor at the Arlberg in the year 1907 and revolutionized the technique of skiing with the "Arlberg-Schule" (Arlberg-School). In 1920 he founded the first ski school in Austria on the Arlberg. He carried the name of his hometown Stuben and the ski paradise Arlberg out into the world as a ski legend as well as an actor.

In his honor, on February 22, 2019, the 24th Hannes-Schneider-Memorial Race will take place in the form of a night giant slalom run through the Rauz-Tobel (Slope 102)
