Motorcycling around Stuben

Freedom on 2 wheels in the middle of the mountains

The Royal Stage

Kilometers: 358 | Difficulty: Challenging | Kurviger Tour-code: 20stuben07

This route takes you across Arlberg and the panoramic road towards Landeck before heading to the Reschensee. You reach the lake via the sharp curves of the Norbertshöhe pass. A photo with the church tower that rises out of the lake is a must.

A detour to the western side of the lake is also appealing and definitely worth the few extra kilometers. With the Stelvio Pass and the Umbrail Pass, you are now approaching the royal stage of our Alpine tour, for which we recommend plenty of motorcycling experience and safe driving.

At 2,757 meters, the Stelvio Pass is the second highest paved mountain pass in the Alps. The 48 hairpin curves on the South Tyrolean side and another 34 down to Bormio are in a league of their own. You'll appreciate the opportunity to recharge your batteries at the alpine guest house Tibet Hütte. The Umbrail Pass, which is a little less spectacular, but still exceptionally charming, leads down to the Münstertal.

For the less experienced or not as confident bikers, we recommend the dotted route from Glurns towards the Fuorn Pass to avoid the difficult Stelvio Pass. By the way, Glurns is one of the smallest villages in the Alps and enchants visitors with its medieval charm.

After you cross the Fuorn Pass, whose summit is a popular meeting point for bikers, you'll head through the Lower Engadine towards Stuben on the Arlberg – of course, with a short coffee break in one of the pretty towns such as Guarda or Scuol.
